Agents are not apps

The mobile era trained a generation of product thinkers to decompose every problem into screens, taps, and sessions. An "app" was a bounded surface a user visited deliberately, did a thing, and left.

Agents invert all of it.

The session is the wrong unit

When I ship an agent for a government client, the user's "session" with it can span weeks. It's waiting on a document, it's watching a folder, it's pinging a Slack channel at 3am because something finally arrived.

The interface is the contract, not the surface

What the user actually cares about is what the agent is allowed to do on their behalf. The chat window is incidental. The permission envelope is the product.
