What a shoot teaches a developer

I've spent the last decade doing two things that look completely different from the outside: writing code and making films. The more I do both, the more I realise they're the same discipline with different vocabulary.

Pre-production = Architecture

You don't walk onto set without a shot list. You don't start coding without understanding the system you're building.
